From 1913-1920

Troop 1 was established in Canfield, awarding one Eagle Award to Robert Manchester, II.

1921

Troop 1 disbanded as records show no rechartering as of that year.

1926

Troop 25 is chartered or established by Herb Kassady, a minister at Canfield United Methodist Church. Pastor Kassady previously led Troop 13 in Ashtabula.

James (Jimmy) B. Jones, the Postmaster in Canfield, was the first Committee Chair. Robert Kassady was the first Eagle Scout Awarded in the troop.

World War II brought a lot of changes for the troop, where there was an average of one new Scoutmaster per year, but the troop continued to thrive.

    • 1928-1930 – Robert Manchester, II (the only Eagle Scout of Troop 1, 1920)
    • 1931-1935 – Charles J. Neff
    • 1935-1936 – Hill McDonald
    • 1936 – James Sherman
    • 1936-1938 – James E. Thomas

1938

Cub Scout Pack 25 is established by John Wolboldt

  • Scoutmasters:
    • 1939-1940 Herman West, Eagle Scout and Postmaster of Canfield (Troop 25’s 7th Eagle Scout, 1931)
    • 1941 – Kenneth Tanek
    • 1942 – Wilbert Hood (Troop 25’s 28th Eagle Scout, 1941)
    • 1943 – Jack Rogers
    • 1944 – James B. Jones
    • 1945-1946 – James B. Beckenback
    • 1947 – Arthur Haggis, Jr. (Troop 25’s 20th Eagle Scout, 1939)
    • 1948 – Don M. Johnston
    • 1949 – William H. Bradshaw

1950’s

Brought stability to the troop.

  • Scoutmasters during this time:
    • 1950 – 1971 Herman West (for the second time)
    • 1972 – 1993 John Wolboldt, (Troop 25’s 27th Eagle Scout)
    • 1993 – 1998 Steve Kowolsky, Eagle Scout

1998

Kevin Prus (Troop 25’s 82nd Eagle Scout) takes over as the 18th Scoutmaster; though, the 4th since the 1950’s

2018

Presented our 179th Eagle Award

Troop 25 has had more than 2,000 youth involved from our community

Added Girl Dens to Cub Scout Pack 25

Girls Troop formed in September 2019

2021

Donald Duda, Jr. (Troop 25’s 94th Eagle Scout) takes over as the 19th Scoutmaster

2022

Troops and Pack move meeting location to Canfield Presbyterian Church.
